Storyteller Drummer Boy

This striking Cochiti Pueblo drummer figurine by Mary Martin (Tsiranitsia) is beautifully detailed and full of character. The drummer is dressed in a finely painted vest with black-and-white striped trim, a striped blanket draped over his shoulder, a buttoned shirt, and a shell necklace. His separate pottery drum rests in his lap, though the original drumstick is no longer present. The back of his vest features traditional rain cloud and crossed arrow designs, while his arms are adorned with floral motifs.
